New York City Subway Bans Dogs Unless They Fit into a Bag
These Moms and Dads Accepted the Challenge.
For New Yorkers dogs, the subway is off-limits unless they fit into a bag or carrier. Small-to-medium dogs have options from an Ikea iconic blue bag (yes, you've heard it right) to tote bags to back packs.
New York Times explains the rule as “enclosed in a container and carried in a manner which would not annoy other passengers.” This means the carrier is on your lap, or the floor, and not taking up an adjoining seat or foot space. This applies to all New York City public transportation.
If you have a large dog, an appropriate pet carrier would make things more comfortable. Both for you and for you beloved buddy. If your lovely dog is small and fancy, well, he or she deserves a fancier pet carrier.
